So as of five minutes ago I am officially 'Mom' to the rugrat, and very smug he looks about it too.
Teddy was almost - almost - walking. He could crawl, do the buttshuffle, and hold himself up standing for a few seconds before wobbling to the ground. In the last few days he'd started to lift a leg cautiously, leaning it forward before thinking better of it and dropping back down on his butt, all indication was he might well be walking by his birthday next week.
He wasn't quite talking yet either, gurgling away what to him was clearly speech but what to everyone else was entirely indecipherable. His first steps would probably get in before his first word, which was fine by Flick because this was all new to her, she'd gotten to see none of it last time.
So of course, being Teddy, he had to go and surprise her. She'd just finished bathing him, was just starting to lift him out of the shallow water in the tub when he grinned and declared, "Mom!"
She froze, turned to stare at him, and he laughed at her before saying it again.
"Dex! You have to hear this."
She ran as best as she was able to the next room, Teddy still dripping all over her.
