Her older brother, Con, decided he wanted to join the military and his parents were highly opposed to the decision, ultimately disowning him when he enlisted. They had better luck with Flick...never entirely sure what her vocation was she only knew she wanted to do something that made a difference, no 9-5 office job shuffling paper for her. She went to a lib arts school back in MA and ultimately double majored, taking education and alternative therapies with a few to going to work with those with special needs. That plan derailed pretty much by fluke. Solely because she had the time the summer before college began she enlisted in an intensive EMT-B training course, figuring the qualification would get her better pocket money than flipping burgers would and happy to be learning something useful. She worked with a private ambulance company and took her EMT-I qualification before junior year, transferring to a fire station at year later. The first time she was brought out on call she changed her mind about the education thing. She finished her degree up anyway - she was in the home stretch by then - but as soon as she'd graduated she signed up to train as a fire fighter and she hasn't looked back since. She was still with her first station, just outside of Boston, when she visited Tampa for a weekend in late March 2007. When she went home she found herself missing the place and, eventually, she gave in and applied for a transfer. In only occasional contact with her brother she's unaware that he's stationed there, and he's equally unaware that she's moved down South. Which should be interesting. History: Tonks' mother, Andromeda, had been disowned by her family for marrying a Muggle-born wizard - Ted Tonks. In fact her sister, Bellatrix, would go on to become the most noted and feared of Voldemort's supporters. An only child Tonks happened to possess a rare and coveted gift - she was a Metamorphmagus, capable of completely altering her appearance at will. This came in very handy when, after graduating from Hogwarts (she was in Hufflepuff house) she joined the Aurors...qualifying despite a natural tendancy towards clumsiness.
